What Is The Message In That Photograph?
When a person sees a photograph, what actually happens? Understanding at least a part of that process is essential when you are taking a series of photographs. The skills of the photographer will ensure that the photograph is technically good, but it may still not be liked. So, is that important?
Whether the photoshoot is of a family, a wedding, a product, a professional headshot or an event, the aim must be for the client, their customers or their families to like the photograph. In today's digital marketing age, imagery that immediately ticks the box entitled 'like' is paramount. If the image isn't liked, then that subliminal message bounces around inside the veiwer's head and they are more than likely going to disengage. This is the type of negative response that we are all desperately trying to avoid, whether it is when showing friends a wedding album or promoting your latest product on your website and through social media.
