A Celebration of French Wine in Wales
This was event photography with a twist. Along with my wedding photography partner, Jo Davies, we had been asked to photograph the unfolding events of Beaujolais Day at Morgan's Hotel in Swansea, South Wales. And what a day! A selection of the photographs from the day can be seen under the Event Photography section on this website.
Beaujolais Day is a celebration of new wine from the first harvest of grapes in the Beaujolais region of France. The centre for this wine celebration in South Wales has been Swansea, with Morgan's Hotel being widely regarded as 'the place to be'.
Armed with our Canon cameras, Jo and I photographed the unfolding events as the wine and beer flowed. The heavy rain and high winds failed to deter the hundreds of revellers who flocked to Morgan's. I took my first photo at 11:45am and my last at 10:45pm. There was quite a difference between the two photos. It was a long day, but lots of fun.
At Morgan's Hotel, there was amazing food, an abundance of alcohol and some fantastic music from several live bands. A perfect recipe for great photos. The atmosphere was amazing with people of all ages in attendance. Some of the bands even played some 80s music, to which I found myself almost dancing. A few times, Jo and I had to drag ourselves away to prevent being hauled onto the dance floor.
Throughout the day, the Morgan's Hotel team was just brilliant. They kept the wine flowing and the food served.
It was a great day and thanks to everyone who smiled, laughed and gave us a pose. You made the photos amazing!
