Coffee Tea and Cakes Photography in South Wales
As a Professional Photographer I tend to spend a great deal of time travelling around South Wales. After a while you tend to know the location of the local decent coffee shops. For the travelling businessman, they oases in a dessert. And now there is a new one in Treforest near Pontypridd.
The Coffee Shop was opened just before Christmas. It is run by Sian, who also manages Garnish Cymru, one of the most popular places to get a baguette for lunch in the Pontypridd area.
I have worked with Sian previously and taken photographs of her filling-bursting baguettes and popular buffets.
Sian has set up The Coffee Shop perfectly. There are lots of comfortable arm chairs and settees in which to sink as you enjoy a Latte or pot of Tea. Of course, you have to try the wonderful cakes as well, which are just too tempting to miss. There is a warm homely feeling to the place and I can see myself arranging many a meeting in The Coffee Shop.
For the photoshoot, we wanted to focus on the hot drinks, whilst also bringing through that feeling of comfort and relaxation. In the middle of an industrial estate, this is a sanctuary. People can escape for an hour, enjoy a coffee and lunch, whilst losing themselves in a novel or catching up with news in a paper or on the Tablet.
We also created some GIFs for social media. One shows a Latte coming to life. GIFs are a series of photographs put together into one file, almost like a slideshow. For social media they work really well.
Some of my favourite photographs are those of the clear tea pots. We positioned then on a coffee table in the front room with the sun streaming through. The colour of the tea just blossomed and the shadow just gave the image that extra depth.
A selection of the photos can be seen on the Food and Restaurant Photography section of the website.
