Ken Skates AM, the Welsh Government Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales, visited GE Aviation Wales in Nantgarw, South Wales to meet engineering apprentices. GE Aviation is a world-leading provider of commercial, military and business and general aviation jet and turboprop engines and components as well as avionics, electrical power and mechanical systems for aircraft. The company has always provided high quality employment for South Wales based engineers and operate an extensive apprenticeship programme. During the visit, Ken Skates had a round-table discussion with three recent apprentice graduates and was updated on the development of the new GE9X high-bypass turbofan developed for the Boeing 777X. The GE9X is the world’s largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine.
