Guests at the Concrete Society Wales Region’s Spring lunch were entertained by stories from the world of rugby by international referee Nigel Owens.  The event was held at the Sophia Gardens cricket ground in Cardiff with raffles and auctions raising money for Wooden Spoon Wales.  The wonderful compere was Welsh new television presenter Claire Summers.  As an event photographer, I get the opportunity to meet and photograph many of my sporting heroes, of which Nigel is one.  He is widely regarded as one of the best referees of the professional era.  He told stories of his refereeing career including officiating over one of the greatest games ever when South Africa playing New Zealand in the Rugby Championship of 2013 at Ellis Park, Johannesburg, South Africa.  A great afternoon with money raised for the fantastic Wooden Spoon charity.
