Wembley ’99 Reunited The Events Room

On 11 April 1999, Scott Gibbs danced through desperate England defenders at Wembley to score the try that gave Neil Jenkins the opportunity to win the game.  Wales had beaten England 34-33 in the final rugby union Five Nations, playing at their ‘borrowed’ home of Wembley because of the ongoing build of the new Millennium Stadium.  It was an incredible result, with Wales on the back foot for most of the game.  In winning, Wales had stopped England winning the championship, which went to Scotland.  11 of the Wales players joined The Events Room at their Wembley ’99 Reunited dinner, held at The Vale Resort in Hensol, South Wales.  There was also a surprise appearance by the Wales coach of 1999, Graham Henry, and team manager, David Pickering.  It was a magic evening, bringing together so many players from one of the most memorable games in Wales rugby history.
