St Fagans National Museum of History

I have been visiting the St Fagans National Museum of History since I was in junior school, over 40 years ago. Founded in 1948, the open-air museum chronicles the historical lifestyle, culture, and architecture of Wales. St Fagans is one of several historical attractions operated by Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum of Wales. In 2019, the St Fagans museum was named the Art Fund Museum of the Year, recognising a six-year and £30 million revamp that was completed in 2018.

As a photographer, I have had the opportunity to photograph events at St Fagans National Museum of History on several occasions. In 2019, I photographed the volunteers Christmas Party held in the Oakdale Workmen’s Institute, an open day for families supported by the local children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan, and photographed volunteers working hard preserving and renovating historical artefacts to display at the museum. It was during the last visit, that I took the opportunity to photograph some of the amazing historical buildings.
