The Maggie’s Swansea anniversary ball (22nd May 2026) celebrated 30 years since the opening of the first Maggie’s at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. Maggie’s was co-founded by Maggie Keswick Jencks and her oncology nurse, Laura Lee after being left to process the devastating news of a terminal cancer diagnosis in a windowless hospital corridor. She recognised the desperate need for a warm, welcoming space, she and Laura set out to build a new type of cancer care that provided emotional and psychological support.
The fantastic evening at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea celebrated this milestone. Hosted by Mal Pope, the guests were treated to performances by Bronwen Lewis and The Thrillionaires. During the meal, guests were mesmerised by three outstanding close-up magicians. There was also an address by Laura Johnson talking about the special care Maggie’s provides. A wonderful evening raising funds for a special charity.
