A charity cycle team, made up of a host of rugby legends, took the Scotland vs Wales Six Nations match ball from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff to BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh in just 48 hours for Doddie’s Weir’s MND charity, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. The team, headed up by ex-Scotland and British and Irish Lions player Rob Wainwright, left Cardiff on Thursday 9th February and arrived in Edinburgh on Saturday 11th February. Prior to starting the challenge, on the Wednesday night, a 1997 Lions Reunion dinner was held at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff in support of the challenge. The dinner was organised by the same team who stage the annual Wales Concrete Society’s Concrete Spoon lunch and featured legends from the game of rugby union including Rob Wainwright, Martin Johnson, Paul Wallace, Jeremy Davidson, Nigel Redman, and Fran Cotton. BBC Wales Scrum V’s Sean Holley hosted the Q&A, with great rugby stories from the legendary winning 1997 British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa. The dinner was sponsored by PureCyber and supported by The Events Room, and raised over £16,000.
