The Events Room organised a celebration dinner to remember the momentous day when Wales, playing at ‘home’ in Wembley, beat England in the 1999 Five Nations. A game that, in the words of Eddie Butler, marked the beginning of a new era in Welsh rugby. On stage with host Sean Holley, were four players who formed the backbone of that 1999 side coached by Graham Henry, including crucial try scorer Scott Gibbs and prolific kicker Neil Jenkins, who kept us in the game and kicked the winning conversion. It was another great event for any rugby or sports enthusiast as the players told their stories from a time when rugby still retained some of the charm of the amateur days.
