Triad24 24 Hour Run Josh Llewellyn Jones

The second of Josh Llewellyn Jones’ Triad24 challenges took place on the weekend of 30 & 31 October 2021.  He planned to run for 24 hours on a circuit around Cardiff Bay.  The challenge did not start as planned with Josh nursing injuries both long-term and from his 24 hour squat challenge in September.  But Josh is Josh and he set off in high spirits.  I photographed the 10:00 start and then rejoined the team at 16:30, when my first photograph was Josh having his feet tapped up and deep massage on his thigh muscle.  The run had evolved into a walk, even a hobble at times, but he was still determined to complete the 24 hour challenge.  I walked with him on a Cardiff Bay circuit as the sun set and with heavy downpours of rain soaking us all, before leaving for the evening.  I returned for 06:30 and saw a battered, soaked and exhausted Josh.  He still had 2.5 hours to go (the clocks had gone back) and now was focused on circuits in the light around the Wales Millennium Centre.  With amazing support from Cerys, his parents and many others, and in the midst of a nasty rain and wind storm, he continued.  Through sheer bloody mindedness and incredible mental and physical strength, he finally stopped at 09:00.  The 24 hours challenge was complete.  Another step in creating awareness of cystic fibrosis and raising funds for Josh’s amazing charity CF Warriors.
