The Concrete Society Autumn lunch, held in conjunction with Wooden Spoon Wales, is one of my favourite events of the calendar year. Jo and I have been fortunate enough to be the event photographer since 2014. The lunch is held at the Sophia Gardens cricket stadium in Cardiff and brings together some of the most famous names in rugby. The 2019 event was another great success with four great Wales and British & Irish Lions Number 8s taking the stage. Host Sean Holley had the unenviable task of keeping Scott Quinnell, Andy Powell, Colin Charvis and Eddie ‘The Voice of Rugby’ Butler in check. The lunch provides a perfect platform to tell people about the wonderful work carried out by the Wooden Spoon. They support projects for young people right across the UK that actually change lives and donations can be made via their website – Donations. At the event, Jo and I also print photographs of guests with their rugby heroes with 50% of every sale going back to the Wooden Spoon.
