This set of photographs was taken to support a case study press release I was writing for Bunting Magnetics. Western Bio-Energy in Margam, South Wales, UK had installed a Bunting Electro Overband Magnet (EMAX model) to remove problematic tramp ferrous metal from woodchip. The sustainably sourced woodchip fuels the 15.8MWh Biomass Power Plant exporting electricity to the grid. In operation, 22 tonnes per hour of woodchip is conveyed under the EMAX140 Electro Overband Magnet on a 1.2-metre wide conveyor. The variety of ferrous metal captured by the Overband Magnet ranges from small wire to large bolts and even flanges.
