A Cardiff City FC Christmas for Ty HafanThursday December 17, 2015
Photographing Cardiff City Players Visiting Ty Hafan
On Thursday 16th December, I was at Ty Hafan in Sully just outside Cardiff to photograph players from Cardiff City FC who were visiting the hospice. Ty Hafan provides care to children with life limiting illnesses and support for their families throughout Wales.
When I arrived, I took the opportunity to chat to a few of the families and immediately became aware of the excitement buzzing around the room. There was a Dad and son kitted out in the blue of Cardiff City and other genuine supporters who were so excited at the prospect of meeting their heroes, especially after the 3-2 win earlier on in the week.
Six Cardiff City players visited and were fantastic. They couldn't do enough and were so helpful in posing for all the photographs. It was wonderful to see players sat on a settee just chatting to a Mum and Dad. There was a lot of signing done, on shirts, balls and team photos and they all added their handprints and signatures to a canvas. There was also a Christmas carol service with beautiful music from music therapist and teacher Diane Wilkinson.
It is hard to explain the effect of a visit like this. The smiles on the faces of the families and children showed that players giving time out to visit really does make a difference. And I was lucky enough to be there taking photographs!
A selection of the photographs can be seen on the Charity and Event Promotion section on my website.
