To promote ‘Sustainable Clothing’ Tŷ Hafan staged a special evening event at their store in Whitchurch in the outskirts of Cardiff. As the event photographer, I got to meet local fashion professionals and see the high quality of clothing on display. With a growing global awareness of the necessity for acting responsible, especially in terms of sustainability, clothing stores like the Tŷ Hafan one in Whitchurch are growing in popularity and importance. Throw-away fashion leads to an increased draw on the world’s resources and increases waste. The clothing in the Tŷ Hafan store had been donated by people across the region. Nevertheless, the quality was astounding and often higher than that of new clothing purchased from low-cost stores. The display included ball gowns, evening dresses, leather boots, scarfs, and a beautifully ornate, off-white antique dress. Tŷ Hafan is one of the UK’s leading paediatric palliative care charities and offers care to children and support for their families, throughout Wales.
