Cancer Research UK Cardiff Superstore

In February 2019, I photographed the opening of the new Cancer Research UK superstore in Newport Road, Cardiff. The new store was the largest Cancer Research UK has in the UK and one of the largest charity shops in Wales. Cancer Research UK funds scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer. Their work includes developing evidence-based policy to inform Government decisions related to cancer and research. The charity also arranges and co-ordinates thousands of fundraising activities across the UK.

Cardiff came out in force to celebrate the opening of the new superstore. Customers queued outside well before the official opening. The store was officially opening by six-year-old Darcy Stone from Rhiwbina. Darcy had been diagnosed with kidney cancer two weeks before her third birthday. After having treatment, Darcy has been cancer-free for more than three years.
