Chris Daniel From Couch To 18000 Miles

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Chris Daniel OBE on an intermittent sunny and then wet cold day in the lower reaches of the Brecon Beacons.  Chris Daniel is one of those very special people.  At the age of 53, Chris became the only person to cycle virtually around the world, a journey he completed on Saturday 21st July 2018.  He covered over 18,000 miles on a state-of-the-art turbo that accurately simulated gradients and terrain.  Chris was inspired to take on this challenge following the death, from bowel cancer, of his wife and the love of his life, Rita.  The aim of the ride was focused as much on raising awareness of cancer symptoms and donations for cancer charities as it was on Chris completing it.  So far Chris and his amazing team have helped raise over £118,000 for cancer charities and in 2018 he was awarded an OBE in recognition of his achievement.  Chris was born in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, where he still lives. He continues to look for new ways to raise money for cancer charities and is a motivational speaker.  This set of photographs was taken for his book ‘From Couch To 18000 Miles‘ which can be purchased on Amazon.  The cover was then designed by Mark Shepherd.
