Tŷ Hafan Gala Dinner 2024

For the first time since 2019, South Wales children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan held their gala dinner.  Hosted by the wonderful Sian Lloyd at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, attendees of the gala dinner included corporate supporters of the charity such as event sponsors Hugh James and Euro Commercials.  At the drinks reception and during the dinner, talented caricature artist Picasso Griffiths captured guests’ characters in black ink.  The Barry Male Voice Choir treated everyone to Welsh music celebrating St David’s Day.  James Meacham took to the stage and spoke passionately about his son Thomas, explaining how the Tŷ Hafan team had supported his family through the toughest of times when their son passed away.  Support that is ongoing as James’ family navigate life after the death of a child.  He also spoke about the 2024 BikeBoatBoot challenge being taken on by dads of children cared for by the charity, where the men will be cycling, hiking and kayaking the length of Wales in four-days.  James auctioned a Tŷ Hafan rugby ball signed by Sam Warburton and Warren Gatland, raising an incredible £1,250.  The Tŷ Hafan Gala Dinner was a huge success and raised over £33,000 on the night.  All towards the charity’s big ambition of ‘When a child’s life will be short, no family should have to live it on their own’.
