Less than five months after refereeing the tense rugby world final between New Zealand and South Africa (11-12), referee Wayne Barnes took stage as the guest speaker at the 2024 The Concrete Society Wales Region Spring Lunch (Marriott Hotel, Cardiff). The sports-loving audience heard stories of the rugby career of one of the all-time great referees. Compered superbly by Sean Holley, the Concrete Society Wales Region used the lunch to raise funds for Wooden Spoon Wales, the children’s charity of rugby. The Wooden Spoon is a grant-making charity that funds life-changing projects supporting children and young people across the UK & Ireland. Another great event!
