Wales Millennium Centre

The Wales Millennium Centre is an important arts centre located in the Cardiff Bay area of Wales’ capital city. Phase one of the building opened in November 2004 followed by phase two in January 2009. It dominates Cardiff Bay with the distinctive metal fascia displaying the words ‘In These Stones Horizons Sing’ in both English and Welsh. The WMC stages a wide range of art events including classic musicals, opera, plays and even comedians.

The design of the Wales Millennium Centre, both externally and internally, is unique. It is also wonderful to photograph. Iraq-born architect Zaha Hadid won an international competition to design the building and she created something that is truly spectacular. The appearance of the building changes dramatically with the light and it appears different every time I take photographs. Some of the images in this collection have been taken using a fish-eye lens and have proved to be very popular for people to frame and display.
