Pen-y-Fan 2026

I was driving in sunshine as I skirted around Brecon, but in the distance I could see dark black clouds looming over Pen-y-Fan like Mordor in Lord of the Rings.  The first couple of teams avoided the rain and even saw sunshine, but the rain that had persisted all day had only taken a brief tea break and returned with a vengeance.  Even though Pen-y-Fan is the lowest and final mountain of the Tŷ Hafan Welsh 3 Peaks, it still requires climbing, and after summiting Yr Wyddfa and Cadair Idris, there were many tired legs setting off across the bridge and up to the summit.  But there were scenes of relief and joy as teams crossed back across the bridge and finished the epic challenge.  An achievement that everyone should always remember with intense pride!  You are all amazing and are now members of the exclusive Welsh 3 Peaks club!
